SHIVANI PATEL, 2022 BACHELOR'S PROGRAM GRADUATE
Graduating a semester early from the Biomedical Science and Enterprise program and Honors College, Shivani Patel already has a full-time position with a multinational company.
“My role is very entrepreneurial,” Patel said. “I get to manage a massive business account and learn a lot about the business world. I’m excited for that as a starting point for my end goal, which is to be a full-time entrepreneur.”
MIRANDA BARAS, 2022 MASTER'S PROGRAM GRADUATE
With a decade of experience in emergency medical services, Miranda Baras (M.I.S. ’22) is pursuing a new career focused on biotechnology and medical devices and has even launched her own startup medical device company.
“I was so excited when I found the program,” Baras said. “I didn’t think I had many options. I started the program on the research track initially, but after taking some classes, I fell in love with the business side of things and switched to the professional track.”
JUNSIK SUNG, 2022 PH.D. PROGRAM GRADUATE
With a Ph.D. in Translational Biomedical Sciences under his belt, Junsik Sung is closer to achieving his dream of becoming an independent researcher who develops new drugs to treat human diseases.
“My ultimate career goal is to become an independent researcher who can continue to work in translational biomedical research to develop new drugs for human disease treatment,” Sung said. “I’m always interested in the therapeutics research of human diseases. Basic science is important, but I like that biomedical research is applicable to clinical use. That’s more attractive to me and motivates me the most.”
