- Biography
Michael Hart, Adjunct Professor at Georgia State University, practiced small animal medicine and surgery in a small animal private veterinary practice prior to pursuing specialty training (residency program) in laboratory animal medicine. Dr. Hart has served as a laboratory animal veterinarian in an academic environment since completing his residency in 1998 and became board certified as a laboratory animal veterinarian in 2002.
Clinical and Administrative Focus
Dr. Hart has served as the GSU Director of the Division of Animal Resources (DAR) and University Veterinarian since 2006. The DAR is the service unit of the university responsible for the program of animal care and use. In this capacity and in his capacity as the University Veterinarian, Dr. Hart works to provide and oversee the provision of veterinary care, husbandry care, animal care and use training, and research support in association with the university faculty and their research programs. The university animal care and use program is accredited by the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC International). Dr. Hart also serves as an ad hoc Consultant for AAALAC International.
